Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were causing
or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in that employees
were exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no proveyo
empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que puedan causar
muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban
expuestos
a:
Employees exposed to the collapse or fall down of the storage frames.  At
Econo Rial, located at
the Road 185 Km. 0.9, Canovanas, at the warehouse area: Where the
employees works receiving
and accomodating the merchandise, was observed that the frames were the
merchandise was
stored did not have the anchorage bolts and in some components of the
frames were bended due
to hits with the forklifts.  The employees climb onto the frames to
accomodate the merchandise.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is putting in
place the anchorage bolts and changing or reforcing the bended components
of the frame.
Empleados expuestos a que los armazones de almacenaje se viren o
desplomen.  En Econo Rial,
localizado en la Carr. 185 Km. 0.9, Canovanas, en el area del almacen:
Donde los empleados
trabajan recibiendo y acomodando la mercancia, se observo que los
armazones donde se almacena
la mercancia no tenian los tornillos de anclaje y en algunos componentes
de los armazones
estaban doblados debido a golpes con los montacargas.  Los empleados se
suben en los
armazones para acomodar la mercancia.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo apropiado y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es colocando en
su lugar los tornillos de anclaje y cambiando o reforzando los componentes
doblados del
armazon.

muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados estaban
expuestos a:
Employees exposed to slips, trips and falls.  At Econo Rial, located at
the Road 185 Km. 0.9,
Canovanas, at the warehouse area: Where the employees works receiving and
accomodating the
merchandise, was observed that the employees used metal stairs of 90
inches high and 24 inches
wide to reach the upper level of the storage frames, which is at 138
inches high, where
merchandise was stored. The metal stairs did not reach the upper level of
the
storage frames by
48 inches high, the employees climb through the frames components to reach
the upper level and
accomodate the merchandise.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is use a stair
which have the suffienct lenght and high to reach the upper level of the
frames without exposing
the employees to hazards.
Empleados expuestos a resbalones, tropezones y caidas.  En Econo Rial,
localizado en la Carr.
185 Km. 0.9, Canovanas, en el area del almacen: Donde los empleados
trabajan recibiendo y
acomodando la mercancia, se observo que los empleados usaban unas
escaleras de 90 pulgadas de
alto y 24 pulgadas de ancho para alcanzar el nivel superior de los
armazones de almacenaje, el
cual esta a 138 pulgadas de alto, donde se almacenaba mercancia.  Las
escaleras de metal no
alcanzaban el nivel superior de los armazones de almacenaje por 48
pulgadas
de alto, los
empleados subian a traves de los componentes de los armazones para
alcanzar el nivel superior y
acomodar la mercancia.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo apropiado y aceptable para corregir este
riesgo es usar una
escalera la cual tenga el largo y alto suficiente para alcanzar el nivel
superior de los armazones
sin exponer a los empleados a riesgos.
