Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
Employees were exposed to injuries due to bad design of the counter,
employees got hit
by the edge of the drawers while performing their tasks. At Luis Munoz
Marin Airport,
where the employees of Compania de Turismo de Puerto Rico provide
information to the
tourists, it was observed the following:
a.) In front of American Airlines Terminal D (Terminal D), the Compania de
Turismo de Puerto Rico put a counter which has a height of 28.5 inches
from the
floor level to the drawers. The seats provided by the employer (Swivel Task
Stool, Puerto Rico Tourism Company 06250 and 06251) has a height of 22.5
inches to 32.5 inches. When the employees take a seat, they get hit theirs
thighs
with the drawers edge.
Among another methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is
provide a seat
that can adjust to the counter height.
Empleados estuvieron expuestos a golpes y contusiones debido al mal diseno
del
mostrador, los empleados se agolpeaban con el borde de las gavetas
mientras realizaban
sus tareas. En el Aeropuerto Luis Munoz Marin, donde los empleados de la
Compania
de Turismo de Puerto Rico proveian informacion a los turistas, se observo
lo siguiente:
a.) Frente al Terminal D de American Airlines (Terminal D), la Compania de
Turismo de Puerto Rico coloco un mostrador, el cual tenia una altura de
28.5
pulgadas desde el nivel del piso hasta las gavetas. Las sillas provistas
por el
patrono (Swivel Task Stool, Puerto Rico Tourism Company 06250 y 06251)
tienen una altura de 22.5 pulgadas a 32.5 pulgadas. Cuando los empleados se
sientan, se golpean los muslos con el borde de la gavetas.
Entre otros metodos de correccion, uno factible y aceptable, es proveer
una silla que se
ajuste a la altura del mostrador.
