Section 6(a) of the Puerto Rico Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to:
Seccion 6(a) de la Ley de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo de Puerto Rico:
El patrono no
proveyo empleo y un sitio de empleo libre de riesgos reconocidos que esten
causando o que
puedan causar muerte o dano fisico a los empleados, por cuanto empleados
estaban expuestos
a:
by
a dual plate (agitating and heating function) where it's heating function
was active and
burned the rubber base. The smoke disperse through the room  and hallway
due it's
negative pressure protection system was not functioning and there was no
smoke
detectors in the room.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is, use
a single function plate (agitation) or maintain the extractor operating to
maintain the
negative pressure protection system functioning. Install smoke detectors
in the room.
Empleados expuestos a irritacion en la garganta, piel y en los ojos debido
a que
estuvieron expuestos a humo. En Pall Puerto Rico,Inc., localizado en la
Carr.194 Km
0.4, Fajardo: Donde los empleados realizaban trabajos de Analisis de
Laboratorio,
ocurrio un incidente donde se quemo la goma de un envase que contenia
Glutaraldehido.
El envase estaba siendo agitado por un plato dual (Funciones de agitacion y
calentamiento) en el cual la funcion de calentamiento estaba activo y
quemo la goma. El
humo se esparcio a traves del cuarto y pasillo debido a que su sistema de
proteccion de
presion negativa no estaba funcionando y no habia detectores de humo en el
cuarto.
Entre otros metodos, un metodo apropiado y acceptable para corregir este
riesgo
esutilizar un plato que solo tenga la funcion de agitacion o mantener
prendido el extractor
para mantener el sistema de proteccion de presion negativa. Instalar
detectores de humo
en el cuarto.
