SCRR 71-112A: Failed to furnish a place of employment which is free of
recognized hazards
which may cause death or serious physical harm to his employees and comply
with
this
regulation and other occupational safety and health rules and regulations
promulgated under
Chapter 15 of Title 41, Code of Laws, State of South Carolina, 1976, as
amended, as
follows:
A.  Employer knew or should have known that employees erecting 47 metal
plate connected
wood trusses for roof system of building in excess of 10 feet high were
exposed to the
hazard of the trusses toppling and falling to the floor below due to only
one run of lateral
bracing on top cord on each side of the peak, no top cord diagonal
bracing, no cross bracing,
no bottom cord lateral bracing, no bottom cord diagonal bracing, and only
one ground brace
being used as temporary bracing.  A feasible and useful method to correct
this hazard,
among other methods, is to follow the instruction and recommendations in
the H1B-91
Summary Sheet - Commentary and Recommendations for Handling, Installing,
and Bracing
Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses or equivalent and use bracing spaced 8
feet
apart, top
cord diagonal bracing, cross bracing, bottom cord lateral and diagonal
bracing, and a
triangulated ground bracing system consisting of multiple ground braces.
