North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act of North Carolina:  The employer did not furnish to
each of his employees condition(s) of employment and a place of
employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing
or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were exposed to explosion hazards associated with
flammable gas(es):
a)Site, laundry room - on 8/1/97 an employee sustained
serious injury while engaged in the start-up of a natural
gas fired clothes dryer (Unimac/ Huesch, model DT75EJ/
200,000 btu input/ 208 vac single phase), employee was
not adequately trained and furnished detection equipment
in accordance with the National Fuel Gas Code (NFPA 54/
ANSI 223.1-1992).

Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to
correct this condition would require the development and
implementation of safe work procedures in accordance with the
National Fuel Gas Code (NFPA 54/ ANSI 223.1 -1992) and to
provide service personnel with appropriate flammable/
