North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees condition of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to dropped loads: a)sheet metal shop -- employees were operating 4 Coffing 1 ton overhead electric powered chain hoists. Hoists were used to lift 400 lb. metal frame wall sections. Periodic inspection records and reports were not maintained.(ANSI B30.16-1981, sec. 16-2.1.5) one feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct the hazard is to ensure that periodic inspection records are performed and maintained.(ANSI B30.16-1981, sec. 16-2.1.5)81,
