40.1-51.1.(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hydraulic lifts located in bay 2, 3, and 6 were not equipped with automatic mechanical device to hold the lift in the fully extended position. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to adhere to the requirements set forth in ANSI B153.1-1990 Section 4.1.11 that states: "Automotive lifts shall be equipped with an automatic mechanical device to hold the lift in the fully extended position."

One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to adhere to the requirements set forth in ANSI B153.1-1990 Section 7.2.1 that states: "The owner, user, or employer shall display the operating instructions in a conspicuous place in the lift area."
