Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a) Rte 95 South, Ft Pierce; Employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard while surveying the center dashed line between the Southbound lanes of a 4 lane highway having a posted speed limit of 70 miles per hour. One feasible and acceptable means of abatement is referenced in Part VI of the Maual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Standards and Guidelines for traffic Controls for Street and Highway Construction, Maintenance, Utility, and Incident Management Operations, 188 Edition, Revision 3, Dated September 3, 1993, Section 6H-3 item 6 under Surveying Along Centerline of Low-Volume Road: For Surveying on the centerline of a high-volume road, close one lane. Violation occurred on or about 11/9/99d
