Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
Racks used for storing snow plow parts and assemblies were damaged by
forklift trucks. The
damage to racks ranged from light to severe; e.g. bent columns and broken
welds in structural
members. The storage racks are located in Plant #2 and the Old Warehouse.
Feasible abatement methods include, but are not limited to:
1) Replace or reinforce damaged columns/structural members.
2) Protect the rack columns by installing aisle, frame, or column guards
as per ANSI MH16.2-
1984.
