Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling from elevated surfaces: a)Bldg. 6, Distribution Center: "Crown" Stacker Truck equipped with a work platform for conducting various "overhead" operations, such as minor maintenance, and to re-arrange elevated storage was not properly guarded so as to protect employee(s) from the hazard of falling to the lower concrete floor, on or about 11/25/97. ABATEMENT NOTE: One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others to correct this hazard, is to provide the platform with a safety belt and lanyard as per ANSI B56.1 - 1975, Part II - Section 427 and Part III - Section 513.ion
