Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were not protected from the hazard of falling from elevated bucket of a front loader machine to the lower concrete level: a)Job Site, North Area: Two employees, removing overhead angle steel brackets standing in a bucket of a Kobelco, LK 500 front loader machine, were not protected from falling, on or about 8/6/98. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods, among others to correct this hazard, are to ensure that management personnel, and other employees obey the company rules/policies as follows: 1. Ensure that employees do not stand inside the bucket to remove material. 2. Ensure that only authorized personnel ride the material handling equipment.
