North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act of North Carolina:  The employer did not furnish to
each of his employees conditions of employment and a place(s) of
employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely
to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that
employees were exposed to the hazards associated with armed
robbery:
a)Store - following a successful armed robbery (6/17/97)
where two store employees were held at gun point and
threatened with bodily harm and death, the employer
failed to implemented industry recognized precautionary
measures to deter future robbery attempts against
employees.
One feasible method to abate this recognized hazard would
require:
1) The hiring of off duty uniformed police officers and or
private security contractors
2) The installation of a "central UL listed" intrusion alarm
system
3) Provide personal panic alarms for management staff
4) Install an automatic safe alarm
5) Install security video devices with taping capabilities
