Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: the hazard of being struck by motor vehicles while working on the two lane road: (a)Employee working in the two lane road clearing branches and other related work was not protected from vehicular traffic by the use of warning devices. Among other methods, one feasible method of abatement is to install warning signs at each end of the work zone to warn motorists of employees presence in the traffic lanes and to follow guidelines set forth in ANSI standard D6.1, 1971. 6A.5

Among other methods, one feasible method of abatement is to provide employee with a red flag or stop and slow paddles and to follow guidelines set forth in ANSI standard D6.1, 1971. 6E.2.
