Employee was not provided a stable place to stand while pouring molten
aluminum from
the ladle into the mold in the sand foundry melt area. Employee was not
protected from
a potential fall onto the ladle, mold, or floor, or mold failure.
Abatement guidelines:
1.The employer shall implement a hazard assessment of the foundry process
and
implemented changes to prevent potential hazards.
2.  Employees shall be protected from injury by use of items, such as but
not limited to:
putting the mold in a pit so that the employees are working above the
mold, building a
work platform around the mold so that the employees are elevated above the
floor area,
or other means of protection developed by the employer that provides equal
or better
protection.
