North Carolina General Statute 95-129 (1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)facility, drying area - the employer placed rags contaminated with flammable chemicals such as mineral spirits and screen opener, on a conveyor belt and ran thru the dryer to be dried. The rags caused an explosion resulting in injury to an employee. Note:Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is not to place rags contaminated with chemicals ont he conveyor belt to run thru the dryer.
