Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not
furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that
were likely to
cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Employees were in a
self propelled
extensible boom aerial lift without any fall arrest equipment.
Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American
National
Standards Institute, ANSI A92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-supported Elevating
Platforms and
have employees wear fall arrest equipment anytime that they are in the
aerial lift.
An employee working from a Simon aerial lift at the jobsite located at
Boardwalk of Orland
Park, Orland Park, IL, was exposed to falls due to the lack of personal
fall arrest equipment.

abatement
for this item.
