Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employee were exposed to: Employees working from a Grove Manlift (self-propelled) at the jobsite located at North Avenue and Kingsbury Street, Chicago, IL, were exposed to falls due to the lack of personal fall arrest equipment. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the American National Standards Institute, ANSI A92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-supported Elevating Platforms and have employees wear fall arrest equipment anytime that they are in the aerial lift.
