N.C.G.S. 95-129(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a)Optima Home Care site(s) - hazardous drug aerosols during the administration of cytotoxic drugs, such as, but not limited to, 5-fluorouracil. ABATEMENT NOTE - Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is prepare written procedures for hazardous drug preparation and reduce hazardous drug aerosol exposure by covering the needle during removal with gauze or require the use of a fit-tested NIOSH- approved particulate respirator or provide local exhaust ventilation.
