North Carolina General Statue 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to:: a)facility, hardwood building - multi-head trim saw "Multiple Trimmer" had five circular trim saws that were not connected to the facility's wood dust collection system. b)facility, hardwood building - wood dust collection piping from the "Natcher" leaked wood dust. c)facility, skid building - band saw was not connected to the facility's wood dust collection system. d)facility, hardwood/skid building - an accumulation of sawdust were located in the areas of the band saw, "Natcher", and multi-head trim saw. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct these hazards are to maintain the dust collection system in good repair and connect the band saw, "Natcher" and multi-head trim saw into the facility's dust collection system. (Reference: 1993 National Fire Code, NFPA 664 (Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities 1987), chapter 4 (Housekeeping), section 4-1.2)
