North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to: being struck by falling rollers that are detaching from the second floor conveyor when poles are used to unjam the conveyor. a)processing area - employees exposed to hazard of being struck by rollers (falling object) from second floor conveyor due to inadequate guarding along conveyor assembly, hazard exist when poles used to unjam the conveyor cause the 4lb 6oz rollers to detached from the conveyer and fall 12' 4" to the concrete floor below. "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to design a catch net or provide guarding in those designated open areas of the conveyor."
