Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to THE HAZARD OF AN EXPLOSION/FIRE DUE TO THE OVEN BEING
USED FOR PURPOSES OTHER THAN FOR WHICH IT WAS DESIGNED.
GEHNRICH INDUSTRIAL OVEN, SERIAL #8690.  EMPLOYEE(S) WERE
USING THE GEHNRICH INDUSTRIAL OVEN, TO BURN CLASS 1B FLAMMABLE
LIQUIDS.  THE GEHNRICH INDUSTRIAL OVEN WAS NOT DESIGNED TO BURN
SOLVENTS OR PAINTS  I.E., POLANE T PLUS POLYURETHAN ENAMEL AND
PRODUCTION BAKING ENAMEL.
Among other methods, two feasible and acceptable abatement methods to
correct this
hazard are to:
1.  Utilize an oven that complies with NFPA 86-1990.
2.  Dispose of paints by an alternative method in accordance with Federal,
State and Local
law and regulations.
