North Carolina General Statute 95-129 (1) of the Occupational
Safety and Health Act of North Carolina:  The employer did not
furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a
place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees:
a)in production area, at the time of incident on April 13,
1998, provisions were not taken to ensure that work areas
where maintenance employee was repairing an overhead
light fixture, were isolated, marked, barricaded, or
guarded to prevent the operation of moving equipment such
as an overhead bridge crane in the work area.
Among other methods to correct this hazard is to isolate,
mark, barricade, or other wise guard the areas in which
employees are performing work in the path of moving, overhead
equipment such as overhead bridge cranes.
