Title 40.1-51.1.(a), Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: On September 16, 1998, employee(s) installing wood roof trusses on the structure were exposed to fall, struck-by and caught-under hazard(s) due to the lack of adequate temporary bracing of the trusses during installation. Twenty four trusses collapsed injuring one employee. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to follow the Manufactures Engineered Shop Drawings and The Truss Plate Institute's Recommendation for Handling, Installing, & Bracing Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses.
