Title 40.1-51.1.(a), Code of Virginia: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a) Employees setting wooden roof trusses, between the 2 hip roof ends of the structure, are exposed to hazards of struck-by and caught-under due to the Manufacture's Engineered Shop Drawings and the Truss Plate Institute's,(TPI), bracing plans for the TYPICAL or COMMON trusses not being followed by the installation supervisor. Thirty five roof trusses collapsed pinning an employee under them. " One feasible and acceptable abatement method among others, to correct this hazard is to read and follow the Manufactures Engineered Shop Drawings and the TPI prior to and during the installation of the trusses."ion
