Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970; The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, an employee was observed using oxygen from a oxy-acetylene torch, as a substitute for compressed air. In violation of ANSI/ASC Z49.1-94, subpart 10.3.2. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be to train all iron workers on the hazards of using Oxygen as compressed air. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is not required for this item.
