Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards:: a)Poor maintenance practices resulted in hot hydraulic oil leaks on the OSB press and in the press pit where ignition sources are normally present. Among other feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are: - Repair oil leaks prior to operating the OSB press. - Install leak detection devices designed to shut down the hydraulic oil heating system and the press when leaks occur. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards: a) Where combustible wood dust, wood chips, and OSB board product were present, the press was allowed to overheat while the process was temporarily shut down. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct the hazard are: - Re-directing or shutting down heat to the press when production shuts down. - Maintaining the press free of combustible material and eliminating both unpressed board and press board product from the press enclosure during shutdowns. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification
