Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that, employees were exposed to crushing injuries while disconnecting a Reel Trailer. On or about June 9, 2000, at Evergreen Parkway & Chestnut, Evergreen, CO, the Reel Trailer and the Dump Truck wheels were not chocked when the Reel Trailer was unlatched from the Dump Truck, resulting in an employee being injured when the Reel Trailer struck him as he unlatched it from the Dump Truck. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to chock the wheels of the Reel Trailer and Dump Truck. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter").-Certification
