Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a).Adjacent to maintenance shop - Stairway leading to roof - The landing on the roof was not equipped with guardrails on one of its sides to prevent employees from falling a distance of 11 feet to the lower level. One abatement method would include, but would not be limited to, installing standard railings on the exposed side.ed
