Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The
employer did not furnish
employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized
hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in
that employees were
exposed to point of operation hazards in a hydraulic press:
a) Automotive Department - Employees operated a two-hand control actuated
hydraulic
press in order to manufacture part #2010-0063-00.  The operation to
manufacture this
part required the press operator to place his hands within the point of
operation of the
press.  The press control on this HANNIFIN (Model OGF-12B, Serial
#T-14225) 12 ton
hydraulic press was not equipped with a press control which would prevent
the initiation
of a stroke signal in the event that a failure occurs in the press control
(control
reliability).
Abatement certification and documentation required within 10 days after
abatement
date.
The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete,
date and method of
abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of
this abatement.
Abatement documentation shall  include documents demonstrating that
abatement is
complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment,
photographic or video
evidence of abatement or other written records.
