Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
a)  On or about 06/15/99 at 1118 E. Main, Blanco, TX a building collapsed
due to
inadequate truss bracing.  A subcontractor was install trusses to an
approximately 60' x 70'
addition and the General Contractor had two employee at the site assisting
the subcontractor and
cutting the ends of the trusses in preparation for placement on the
exterior walls.  The employer
failed to ensure that the subcontractor was following the "Commentary and
Recommendations
for Handling, Installing and Bracing Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses,
HIB-91" prior to
allowing its employees on the job site, thus exposing its employee to the
hazard of a collapsing
building..  Had the employer verified that the building was braced
properly
he would have
eliminated his employees exposure.
