North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: a)struck-by - traffic signs were not posted where employees were performing logging operations adjacent to a public highway and exposed to vehicular traffic. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct this hazard is to provide and require employees to post traffic signs in work zones before work commence. (Reference: Part VI of the manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) 1988 Edition of MUTCD, revision 3 September 3, 1993)
