Title 21 V.S.A. Chapter 3, subchapter 5, Sec. 223(a), section
5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which
were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to
cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees
were exposed to: burns caused by an unguarded furnace plenum.
Location: Employee break room, upstairs mezzanine.
Violation: The hot air plenum of the ceiling furnace, in the above
location sixty inches from the floor, was unguarded and exposed
employees to burns in the upper body and face area. Among other
feasible methods to correct this hazard... guard the plenum with a
substantial cage and post a sign, DANGER HOT, to warn employees to
keep away, or insulate the plenum with an acceptable fire rated
insulation to protect employees in case of incidental contact.
