Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about 2-3- 2000, at the joe site, the employer allowed employees to use compressed air that was being provided through PVC pipe. Feasible Abatements: 1) Provide the compressed air through metal piping instead of PVC piping. 2) Provide the compressed air through PVC piping in Acrylonitrile-Butadiene Styrene (ABS) PVC piping. This is the only type of PVC piping that is approved for this type of use.
