Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Employees were exposed to the recognized hazard of being struck by loads which exceed the capacity of the shop made underslung monorail and pillar hoist crane systems used to transport railroad car doors within the plant. Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Employees were exposed to the recognized hazard of being struck by the hoist running off the end of the jib arm on the monorail underslung pillar (jib) hoist used to lift railroad card doors in the detail area. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement to correct this hazard is to install a rail stop capable of stopping the hoist when it is at maximum load and moving at half its rated speed. ***Certification and Documentation of Abatement Required***on
