Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of structural collapse: (A)Job Site: On 16 August 2000, employees were exposed to the hazard of collapsing trusses due to inadequate temporary bracing. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the bracing guidance provided by the Truss Plate Institute in their Handling, Installing, and Bracing Handbook (HIB-91), paragraphs 13.1.1.7, 13.1.2.2 and foldouts C, D, E, F, and G. NOTE: Abatement certification and supporting documentation are required for this item.
