Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to:
(a) 576 Cedar Lake Road, Lake Villa, Illinois: On or about January 27,
1999 employees of R.J.
Ridolfi & Co., Inc., were exposed to the hazard of roof trusses
collapsing. The trusses were not
equipped with proper bracing.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this
hazard is to brace the
top and bottom chords of the trusses according to the recommendation of
the Truss Plate
Institute HIB-91 (Handling, Installing and Bracing).
Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the
requirements of
29 CFR 1903.19(d).
