Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were working in a self propelled extensible boom aerial lift and were not utilizing an appropriate fall arrest system. New tower south of I88. Two employees wore strap lanyards and body belts while in a self- propelled aerial lift. M.J. Electric's accident prevention program requires 100fall protection and the use of body harnesses when in aerial lifts. Among feasible means of abatement would be to have the employees comply with the American National Standards Institute, ANSI A92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-supported Elevating Work Platforms and M.J. Electric's accident prevention program, 1.Have the employee wear body harnesses anytime that they are in the aerial lift. 2.Retrain all employees in the company policy for fall arrest. CERTIFICATION & DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM.
