North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: hoist failure that would subject employees to falling overhead material hazards. a)production floor -- the employer did not make frequent or periodic inspections on an Irwin 6,000 Lb. capacity, top running, underhung, floor-operated crane, used to lift steel beam loads weighing up to 3,000 pounds.(Ref. ASMEB30.17A 1994, Sec. 17-2.1.1(b)). One feasible and acceptable method, among others, to correct the hazard is to have employees make frequent inspections in accordance with ASMEB30.17A 1994, Sec. 17- 2.1.1(b).7A
