North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety
and Health Act of North Carolina:  The employer did not furnish to
each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of
employment which were free from recognized hazards that were
causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees:
a)building at 201 Clingman Avenue in Asheville  --  the two
overhead transmission lines were closer to the roof of
the building than the distance required by the National
Electrical Code, and this resulted in the electrocution
of an employee of Asheville Metal Finishing, Inc. on
March 18, 1999.
Reference:  Table 234-1 of the National Electrical Safety Code
which is referenced by the National Electrical Code.
NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable
method to correct this hazard is to raise the
overhead transmission lines so they are at least
12.5 feet above the roof of the building.ion
