Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) 930 Prospect, Ave., Park Ridge, Illinois - Employees were provided with a Rigid 300 portable power driven pipe threading machine that was not equipped with a momentary contact device/constant pressure foot treadle control switch. A feasible means of abatement would be to provide a properly guarded momentary contact device/foot treadle control switch as required by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B208.1 - 1982, Section 4.4. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
