Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing and falling hazards: a)Warehouse B, on or about 12/08/01. The employer failed to have a passenger carrying freight elevator inspected, tested and maintained in accordance with ANSI A17.1-1971, Sections 1001 and 1002. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION MUST BE SUBMITTED FOR THIS ITEM. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO CONTRACT FOR AN AUTHORIZED AGENT TO PERFORM PERIODIC INSPECTIONS OF THE FREIGHT ELEVATOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE STANDARDS.
