Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to THE HAZARD OF BEING STRUCK-BY THE HOIST/LOAD SHOULD THE
OVERHEAD HOIST OR SUPPORTING STRUCTURE FAIL:
a)Hide on room, on or about 01/30/01: Overhead hoist was not being
inspected
on a frequent and periodic basis.
b)Hide on room, on or about 01/30/01: Overhead hoist was attached to an
overhead beam with a chain connected by nut and bolt.
Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
Among other methods one feasible and acceptable method of abating the
hazard is to
conduct frequent and periodic inspections in accordance with ANSI
B30.16-1981 and design
the supporting structure to withstand imposed loads and forces.
