Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to THE HAZARD OF BEING STRUCK-BY THE LOAD: a)On or about 4-17-01, Lumber Storage Area: The under-the-hook lifting device for the 3 ton CM hoist did not have the load rating posted. b)On or about 4-17-01, Lumber Storage Area: The under-the-hook lifting device for the 4 ton Coffing hoist did not have the load rating posted. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to: Determine the load capacity of the lifting devices and then mark each device with their rating.
