Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei) without the benefit of
scabicidal treatment and
contact isolation:
a) Cinnaminson Nursing Center (Genesis ElderCareR Network) - The employer
did not
make scabicidal treatment available to employees promptly after two
confirmed and five
suspect cases of scabies were diagnosed; and, the employer did not ensure
that employees
assigned to work with residents with confirmed or suspect scabies did not
"float" to other
areas until the problem was resolved.  On or about November 7, 1999.
ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT:  Follow New Jersey Department of Health and Senior
Services
(Division of Communicable Diseases-Infectious and Zoonotic Disease
Program) scabies
guidelines.
