Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught in/struck by and fire hazards. a) 3102 Boardwalk, Wildwood, NJ - Employees were not trained in the safe operation and procedures associated with working on and/or near the moving cars or other hazardous machinery of the Monster Mash Ride. On or about 08/17/00. One feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to train operators in accordance with The State of New Jersey Carnival-Amusement Rides Safety Act and Regulations, 1998, Chapter 14, Subchapter 3, Section 5:15-5.5. b) 3102 Boardwalk, Wildwood, NJ - Materials used for the construction of room partitions separting interior areas of the Monster Mash Ride, were not flame retardant. On or about 08/17/00. One feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to require that all materials such as, but not limited to, curtains and partitions comply with Section F-306-4 of the State of New Jersey Fire Prevention Code which requires that materials such as these be noncombustible or maintained in a flame resistant condition. NOTE:ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED FOR THIS ITEM. See page 2,"Notification of Corrective Action" for instructions.
