furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards
that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that
employees were exposed to being struck by falling limbs:
a) Private residence, 22 E. Linden Ave. - Employees were exposed to being
struck by
falling tree limbs and/or sections while working below cutting activities.
On or about

Among others, feasible and reasonable abatement methods to correct this
hazard would be to
develop and implement a policy that follows the requirements outlined in
the American
National Standard Institute's standard for Tree Care Operations - Pruning,
Trimming,
Maintaining and Removing Trees and Cutting Brush - Safety Requirements,
Section 9 Work
Procedures (ANSI Z133.1-1994). These requirements include, but are not
limited to:
1) Warnings, when necessary, shall be given by the worker in the tree
before a limb
is dropped. "Timber" or "heads-up" are common terms used for this purpose.
2) Guidelines, handlines, or taglines shall be used when limbs cannot be
dropped
safely.
3) Each tree worker shall be instructed as to what to do. Employees shall
not be
allowed to work under limbs which are being cut.
