were exposed to:
Employees working Surge Auger floor and using the fixed industrial ladder
to access the Surge
Auger Floor were exposed to fall hazards. The following listed areas were
not equipped with
guarding to protect employees from fall hazards. Measured fall distance
was approximately 10ft,
5in:
a)East wall, section which measured 36" long and was 25" wide from the
wall,
b)Access area for ladder adjacent to east wall.
c) A landing platform, employees had to step across measured distance of
10" from
the outer edge of the rung to the landing.
d)Grab bars were not provided at the Roller Room landing.
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct this hazard is
to:
1) Install standard railings along all open sided floors, work platforms.
2)install a landing platform at the surge auger floor landing, and
3)to install grab bars at the roller mill landing..
29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the
above violation is
complete.
