Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970:  The
employer did not
furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from
recognized hazards that
were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to
employees in that employees
were exposed to the hazard of electrocution due to the lack of Ground
Fault Circuit Interrupter
(GFCI) protection on circuits in all wet locations throughout the facility
including the dietary
department, housekeeping/janitorial, utility areas, and laundry
departments:
Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to
correct these hazards
is to install GFCI protected outlets and/or circuit breakers on all
receptacles and equipemnt in
required areas per the National Electrical Code Handbook (NFPA 70-1996),
517-20.
a)Fort Collins Health Care, Fort Collins, CO:  Electrical equipment and
110-volt
a/c electrical receptacles in the dietary department,
housekeeping/janitorial closets,
laundry and other wet locations were not provided with GFCI overcurrent
protection
devices to prevent serious injury or death to employees.  Condition
exposed employees
to the hazard of electric shocks and burns.
