Section 5(a)(1): of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were expose to the hazard of being entrapped against a structure (the floor) and struck by the wooden 25 foot long x 22 foot high wooden frame that was being manually raised into position: LOCATION: 132ns Street/Locust Ave. Bronx, NY News Print Stroage Area Location: West side of 2 Taylor Road, White Plains, New York ON OR ABOUT: 08/08/00 AMONG OTHER METHODS FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD ARE: 1) Take measures prior to or during the raising of the wooden frame to monitor the employees operation and ensure the use of more equipment if needed, such as aluminum push poles and blocks. 2) Use of mechanical equipment such as but not limited to: Cherry picker or other lift equipment to raise and control the movement of the 25 foot long X 22 foot high wooden frame. NOTE: In addition to abatement certification, the employer is required to submit abatement documentation for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.ce
