Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) Structural Welding Dept; There were no documented monthly inspections of the two 5 ton Overhead Crane Co. monorail cranes in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. In addition, the bridge stops had been removed from one of the 5 ton Overhead Crane Co. monorail cranes. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to develop a preventative maintenance program which incorporates all recommendations outlined in the manufacturer's manuals with written, signed and dated reports and also in accordance with ANSI B30.11 in order to ensure a safe and properly functioning crane. Install the bridge stops on the one 5 ton monorail crane.il
